Darlington and Associates has had the opportunity to work with Kevin Gray on two residential projects to date. Both of these projects were rather challenging for a number of reasons. The projects involved many challenges including difficult terrain and complex design elements, the unique nature of the amenities offered and owners who were living abroad, to name a few. Kevin demonstrated throughout his ability to represent the client’s best interests and execute on their vision and within their budget. His sense of design and knowledge of the process made for a very pleasant collaboration for us, and a superior end product for the client.
As the size of a project increases arithmetically, the complexity increases exponentially. In other words, a 10,000 square foot home is not twice as complicated as a 5,000 square foot home, but four times as complicated- or more. There are so many issues that arise due to the amenities and function of a larger home that unless the designer has experience in this realm, the client is at a serious disadvantage. Kevin understood how to translate what the owners wanted into a functional and beautiful design that took into account all of these factors.
On a personal note, Kevin is just plain fun to work with. He’s warm and engaging and understands and believes that building a dream home can and should be a joyous experience. He understood how to work with disparate personalities and contractors of all types, while always keeping the client’s needs and wants at the forefront of all of his interaction. We firmly believe working with Kevin is a true “value added” experience for the client.
We recommend Kevin Gray without reservation, and would welcome the opportunity to discuss our experience with him.
